Workday at WGBC

Thanks to volunteers Dan Bembower, Eli Bembower, Cole Bembower, Wyndy McRoy and Darren McRoy,  whose tasks included cleaning gutters, removing gumballs from parking lot, raking the the playground area, working in the 18:20 room and the children's area, and minor repairs on the swing set.

In preparation for next week’s Easter Egg Hunt and Celebration, volunteers gathered on the morning of March 19, for a spring workday.

Tasks included cleaning gutters, raking the parking lot to remove gumballs, raking the playground area and making small repairs to the swing set, working on the 18:20 and children’s area, and other maintenance tasks.

Participants included Dan Bembower, Eli Bembower, Cole Bembower, Wyndy McRoy and Darren McRoy.

Slideshow: Winter/Spring banquet brings WGBC family joy, a few tears

About 50 folks joined together March 12, for this year’s Winter/Spring Banquet, the theme of which was “Around the World.”

Highlights included a time of tribute to recently passed Bob Bruce and Jean Knue, and Kathy Bruce’s shared remembrance of her trip to Ireland with Bob.

Dr. Terrell Carter emceed the event, and performers included Aerin Johnson, Rick Clevlen, Pat Clark, Heather Arno, Jim Arno, Ken Clark, Kathy Bruce, and Carolyn Kuykendall.

The program included parodies and songs from other countries (plus Neil Diamond’s “America”) and stories set in other countries.  Also as always the brilliant Laura Vonland Unterweger provided the piano accompaniment, and Eric Clark manned the technology.

Many thanks to those who helped with food, setting up, decorations, and cleanup:   Carolyn Kuykendall, Kathy Bruce, Ruth Ellsworth, Kathy Audet, Judith Holstein, Rick Clevlen, Carol Holmes, Aerin Johnson, Keillyn Johnson, Barbara Johnson, Darrel Leroy, Melinda Carter and Dr. Terrell Carter.

Also loving thanks to all the guests who also helped in the evening’s cleanup.

Join us as we celebrate Holy Week!

zTX4gaeTBAll are invited to remember the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ during Holy Week.

As part of Palm Sunday’s service on March 20, we will remember Christ’s ride into Jerusalem.

Then on Good Friday, March 25, Dr. Terrell Carter will lead a contemplative service as we reflect upon the magnitude of Christ’s greatest gift to us.  The Good Friday service will begin at 6 p.m.

Finally, Easter Sunday, March 27, Rev. Carter will lead us in a traditional Easter service.

Winter Banquet will be March 12

This year’s Winter Banquet will be March 12, and have an international them.  As always the event will feature performances by members our church family.

Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets were  for $10/adult and $7/child.
