Fitz’s Root Beer wins taste test at WGBC’s 1st Literary Swapshop

About 25 gathered to peruse books and sample root beers, at WGBC’s first Root Beer and Reading Literary Swapshop.

Five tables were filled with books donated by church and community members, and most attendees found some literary treasures to take home.  It was decided that we will leave the books out until after service next Sunday, so those who could not attend might have a chance to lay claim to printed gems of their own interest.

Any of the children’s books left over on Sunday will be donated to the Avery Elementary Library, and any of the adult books will be donated to Schnucks, which sells the used books and donates the monies to local charities.

Thanks to everyone who donated books and cookies, and thanks to everyone who came and made this social event more fun by virtue of the fellowship.

Served were root beer floats and other treats, and attendees were invited to taste test six root beers and to guess which ones went with which labels.  Fitz’s Root Beer won the taste test fairly handily.

Literary Swapshop: Reading and Root Beer Floats

booksstackartJoin us as we gather away from the afternoon heat to enjoy root beer and ice cream treats while discussing and swapping our used works of literature on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 4 p.m.

Most of us have books we’ve read that now clutter our homes, which inhibit the occupancy of new literary materials to peruse and explore.  Now’s the chance to share those gems and seek new treasures.

Tables will be provided for folks to display the books they’ve brought in to give away.  Anyone who likes may take any of these books.

Any books left over at the end will be donated to community organizations.  The children’s books would specifically be given to the Avery Elementary School library.
