Lunch ‘n Learn begins this week

If you missed the announcement about Lunch ‘n Learn – here’s a quick overview.

Reverend Andy Thomas will lead this on Tuesdays, 12 Noon – 1:30 p.m.

The Lenten Season will be the topic.

A light lunch WILL BE SERVED for this first week and then the next five weeks everyone is asked to bring their own sack lunch. We will meet in the church parlor.

All who can attend during this time of day are invited. If you would like to attend but need transportation, please leave a message on the church telephone by 11 a.m.

Winter Banquet postponed

Join us for Ash Wednesday service

ash wednesdayRev. Andy Thomas will lead Ash Wednesday service at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

This marks the beginning of Lent for many Christians.  Lent is a season (40 days) in hte Christian calendar set aside for penitence and prayer, reflection and renewal in preparation for remembering Christ’s death on Good Friday and celebrating his resurrection on Easter.

Dates for Upcoming Events

Because of the winter weather, last week’s church council meeting was postponed, so several ideas were floated to accommodate the various activities already planned and to meet  to address church business.  To that end, here are the dates for upcoming events.

  • Feb. 11, Church Council will meet at 6 p.m.
  • Feb. 15, there will be a Business Meeting after morning service.
  • Feb. 15, also on this day after morning service, young adults will meet at McAlister’s.
  • Feb. 18, Ash Wednesday, there will be an evening service at 6 p.m.
  • Feb. 18, Winter Banquet Rehearsal at 7 p.m.
  • Feb. 19, Winter Banquet Decorations
  • Feb. 21, Winter Banquet at 5 p.m.

Update: Movie Night for March 13 postponed
