“I CHOOSE LOVE”
July 9, 2017
6 p.m.
Webster Groves Baptist Church
The Broadway Baptist Church CHAPEL CHOIR from Fort Worth, Texas will present a concert of choral and handbell music to celebrate God’s love. This group of 6th-12th graders is from a well-established downtown church in Fort Worth that has a huge ministry to the homeless in our neighborhood, liturgical worship, a 191-rank Casavant Pipe Organ, and 175 years of rich history. The Chapel Choir has been a vital part of the youth and music ministry at Broadway for over 40 years. They have traveled each summer to places like Chicago, Nashville, Orlando, Charlotte, Denver, and also England and Canada. Our tour always consists of mission work and concerts.
This year our tour brings us to St. Louis where we will work in ministry with Humanitri and share concerts at Third Baptist Church, Webster Groves Baptist Church, Creve Coeur Retirement Community, and The Antioch Baptist Church.
Our concert will celebrate God’s love for us as we share powerful texts such as
“In the midst of pain, I choose love.
I await the sun again, I choose love.
In the midst of war, I choose peace.
In the midst of war, hate and anger keeping score,
I will seek the good once more, I choose peace.”
“Hope for tomorrow, strength for today,
these are the blessings I receive from you.
Mercy after mercy, grace after grace,
Until the day I finally see your face.
My hope is in you. Whatever lies ahead, You will carry me through.
Holy, righteous King, You’re the song I sing.
Every day, your mercies are new.
Now I stand, forgiven and free.
I am yours through eternity.
So, Lord Jesus, I put my hope in You.”
We will also play 5 octave handbell arrangements of “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” and “Brethren We Have Met to Worship,” and our Select Ensemble will sing two beautiful songs “Teach Me to Fly” and “They’ll Know We are Christians.”
As our world gets harder to live in and understand, we believe that music can be used by God to heal, preach, and give us strength when nothing else can. Love and compassion are possible through God, and Chapel Choir wants to share that message in song and ministry in St. Louis. Come and join us for a concert of celebration.
