The Lenten Walk toward Calvary begins Ash Wednesday, February 22.  Our service at 7:00 p.m.  begins a spiritual journey that will span forty days.  This is a time of prayer, fasting, self-examination, and penitence as we prepare to celebrate Easter.  We are unworthy but because of the cross and the resurrection, the Lord God offers us the grace of salvation and eternity.  We are called to renew our commitments and our faith as we humbly bow before the Lord God.  Join your Christian family on Ash Wednesday as we make this journey together.

Wyndy McRoy became the first woman to be ordained a WGBC deacon in  2000.  Since then Ruth Ellsworth, Bernice Edmonson and Christine Bunch have joined the ranks of women deacons.

We celebrate birthdays on the first Sunday morning of the month at 9:15 a.m. Coffee, milk and pastries are available for a donation.                February birthdays include: 5 Bill Clevlen, 6 Charlie King, 9 Ken Clark, 11 Terry McCoy, 14 David Kinkade, 15 Darrel LeRoy,   22 Billy Baker, 27  Donna Stamper, 28  Earlene Atkins

The Winter Banquet begins 5:00 p.m., Saturday , February 11, with the theme: Grand Ole Opry/Country.  Tickets are on sale now.  Contact Ken Clark for the ticket price schedule.

WGBC hosts a monthly lunch for the youth and children on the second Sunday of each month.  Individuals or Sunday School classes are being asked to donate a meal for our youth and children.  Ken and Pat Clark hosted this group in December; Wyndy and Joe McRoy hosted the January lunch.  If you (or a group of you) are willing to host a lunch, contact Judy Holstein, Christine Bunch or Donald Johnson.
